Three Rules of Lighting for Photography
There are several rules of lighting for photography. There are three that are of particular importance:
- Light travels in straight lines
- The further away the light source, the less light received by the subject
- The larger the light source, relative to your subject, the softer the light
This video explains these three important rules of lighting for photography. We can use them to create the type of effect we’re looking for whether it’s hard and edgy emphasizing detail, or soft accenting form and shape.
